360 NarrativesWe're delighted to announce our participants and projects and look foward to seeing their work progress. Dreadcode Gavin Inglis, Ali Maloney A strange artifact in a hidden vault. An unconvincing heist team. The Crystal Maze meets The Exorcist in a play you can play.
Cairn Cormac Quinn, Fin Cramb, Bevan Tait “Our team will devise a storyworld rich graphic novel with new media ambitions .It will have contemporary resonances in Scotland and further afield, appealing to fans of myth, fantasy and the supernatural. Cairn’s controlled and distinctive narrative will include the cross platform potential of film, television, interactive gaming, and theatre”
Snow White and Rose Red Lynda Radley, Jenny Soep We will tell the story of Snow White and Rose Red: midwives and inventors who birth strange creatures. We will start by collaborating on a graphic novel, and aim to create strong characters and a vivid, unique story world. We will also adapt the narrative into a play: a “drama-with-images”.
Glasgow Kiss Alton Milne & Virginia Heath Glasgow Kiss will explore the underbelly of Glasgow where lines between good and bad are often blurred. We will see the criminal world though a lens, inspired by a Hong Kong-style cinematography with a futuristic edge. This will illuminate Glasgow’s characters, humour, sound, and colour as never seen before.
Blackout Laura Grace, James Malcolm, Elizabeth McGuane A dystopian noir thriller set in an alternative future: a world of internet blackout. An ambitious immersive ARG experience combining TV, mobile & live gameplay; with audience interaction crucially interwoven into the narrative. This is TV drama as real-time, real-world event.
The Secret Life of Suitcases Lewis Hetherinton, Ailie Cohen Exploring the secret life of suitcases, we want to create a rich and fully immersive world for the very young. Installation, performance, animation, and illustrated books will come together to provide interactive and playful experiences which reveal the magical and beautiful in everyday objects.

Find collaborators - www.facebook.com/groups/360narratives 360 Narratives Residency offers narrative artists the opportunity to work together over a week's residency, followed by support to approach industry. Open Weekend photos - click here Programme detailsWorking in teams of two or more, writers from different fields will collaborate to create story worlds that can be exploited across a variety of media. Using those characters and worlds across formats - a book and a game; a film and a play; a phone app and a comic – in any combination of at least two across the virtual and physical possibilities. Open to established narrative artists including children’s book writers, novelists, playwrights, screen writers, graphic novelists and games developers, the programme aims to broaden networks and find common ground. Applying in teams of two or more, selected writers will share practice and experiences, and build new ideas and projects together. (Other artists who work in narrative genres can be considered for the Residencies, provided they are able to meet the selection criteria to a significant degree.) Following selection, if it is necessary, we will help the writing teams meet with other skills and artists to take their projects forward. These could include illustrators, animators, storyboarders, script or story editors; whatever is appropriate to the projects. The Residency for the successful 4-6 project groups will take place over a week at central conference venue in Scotland. The Residency will combine mentored workshopping of the ideas as well as talks from a wide range of experts from a variety of different areas of narrative development, rights exploitation, publishing and distribution; and willl include sessions on business plans, marketing and pitching to best exploit their creations. The chosen groups will work intensively to develop their proposals to a point where their projects can be shared with industry partners for production. Following the Residency, we will support them to approach industry in whatever way is appropriate to the projects. We will facilitate at least two meetings, pitching or networking opportunities for each team. Participants will be expected to invest their own time preparing their projects for these approaches, though some resources will be available to support the generation of materials. Participation in the residency will be free of charge. All accommodation, travel and meals are included, and a modest fee will be paid to participants for that week.
The programme consists of:
It all started with an exciting Open Weekend in the beautiful Barcelo Stirling Highland Hotel on 19th and 20th November 2011. Participants enjoyed inspirational coversations with peers and writers who have had experience and successes across genres; advice on intellectual property and how to exploit it; and exercises and workshops to get them mingling across artforms. Advisors and case studies from across forms - Jenny Brown, David Griffith, Mark Grindle and Fiona Sturgeon Shea - were on hand to encourage, matchmake and answer questions on the process.
