Ignite is a national playwriting competition aiming to find undiscovered voices for the Scottish Stage. Using a contemporary piece of literature as inspiration, we want you to write a short play scene (not an adaptation of the original source). The winner will receive six months focused dramaturgical and directorial support, advice and training to develop their scene into a full length play, which will be given a rehearsed reading as part of Glasgow City Council’s Aye Write Festival in February 2007. Entries will be judged anonymously by our Creative Director, Julie Ellen, and by our Associate Playwrights. The deadline for entries is August 31 2006, and winners will be announced at the end of September. The benefits of mentoring and support from Playwrights “I have definitely found my experiences of your organisation to be overwhelmingly positive and I certainly would never have written either of my plays were it not for your existence.” DC Jackson, Playwright – The Wall (Evolve Mentored Winner) “I have been nurtured and encouraged and have learned elements of the craft of playwriting that will guide and influence my writing for the rest of my life.”
