| Crossing The Lines - Adventures of a Textual Nature | ||||
Playwrights' Studio, Scotland & The Arches Calling all artists who would like to work with text in new and exciting ways! We are looking for proposals for performance pieces which reimagine published texts. Each response should be 10-15 minutes long and does not have to be finished and polished; the ethos of the night focuses on experimentation. We have a list of playwrights who would love for their contemporary playwrighting to be used for this purpose, however you can propose to use any piece of playwriting that you like. The only rule of engagement is that the text cannot be changed and must be present in some way, (therefore work merely inspired by the writing can’t be included). There will be some rehearsal space available for artists subject to availability. The Arches and Playwrights’ Studio will then present the performances, which will push the boundaries of the theatrical experience while firmly focusing on text. Artists of any genre are invited to take part. Whether you’re a director, musician or movement specialist we’d love to help you celebrate and interrogate the delivery of text. Similar to Scratch nights, these short pieces will be performed to a supportive audience who will offer feedback in the bar afterwards. If you’re interested in Crossing the Lines contact crossingthelines@hotmail.co.uk or email louise@thearches.co.uk for more information.
