Zeitgeist Theatre Grand Slam Zeitgeist Theatre is seeking short, sharp and witty theatre plays for a popular and unique event in South London. Scripts must not be more than eight minutes long, require no more than five actors and have very basic lighting/sound/set requirements. One group of actors perform each play then the audience votes for their favourite. The emphasis is on originality, variety and entertainment. Apart from a lot of fun, this is an excellent way to try out ideas on an audience before developing further.

Celebrating ten successful years as a presence in British Theatre, the Award is dedicated to providing inspiration and validation for playwrights of Caribbean or African descent who are resident in the UK. The Award of £5000 is open to any playwright of Caribbean or African descent,resident in the UK, for the best new stage play in English, which need not have been produced. Each entrant may submit only one play. (Television, radio and film scripts will not be considered.) Robert McLellan Award for Playwriting This annual and unique play competition was established in 2007 to commemmorate the centenary of Robert McLellan's birth in celebration of his enormous contribution to Scottish Theatre. The prize for this competition is £1000, a 2 day development workshop with a professional director and actors, leading to a rehearsed reading on the Isle of Arran at the Arran Arts Festival , November 2008 and a full scale production of the play at Oran Mor, Glasgow in March 2009. The competition asks for plays which have not been performed professionally as yet, are 50 minutes duration, are written for a maximum of 3 characters and are written in any living Scots dialect - urban or rural. | Handle With Care II Soho Theatre presents this follow up open access workshop led by Jennifer Farmer. Handle With Care II will focus specifically on the challenges of creating a dramatic piece from the stories and experiences of vulnerable groups.
