Writers' Factory Feature Film Course Devised by UK screenwriting guru Phil Parker and intended for committed screenwriters, the course is heavily workshop based and includes new thinking on the craft, particularly relating to the central importance of genre and theme. The workload for participants will be significant throughout the 22 weeks, the aim being to move from idea to completed rough draft feature film screenplay, within a supportive developmental environment. Ideally, participants will begin the course with a new idea rather than reworking existing material. Perfect for participants who have already completed the sister course, ’Introduction to Screenwriting’ or writers already experienced in writing short film scripts. Writer and director Eleanor Yule, in collaboration with GMAC, will teach the course. Email marissa@g-mac.co.uk for an application form and schedule of workshop dates. Writers' Factory Feature Film Course Screen Academy Scotland Location: Edinburgh, UK Deadline: 10 January - 7 August 2012 The course takes place over 22 weeks (plus 2 additional 3-week writing breaks), incorporating a mixture of theory and practice. Students are introduced to recent developments in the craft of feature film screenwriting; will participate in project-based story workshops with course peers; and develop and write a first draft of a low budget feature film. The course is delivered by multi-award winning Edinburgh-based film and television producer, screenwriter and experienced Writers' Factory lecturer, Nigel R. Smith. A Guide to Courses with The Writers' Factory The Writers’ Factory courses have been highly successful in developing screenwriters, many of whom have gone on to produce short film scripts or pursue their interest in writing at Film School. All courses are screen-industry approved and are delivered by experienced screen industry professionals.
