Script Surgeries

TalkFest Script Surgeries took place at Fringe Central @ Appleton Tower: Workshop Room on Saturday 18 August 2018 between 11am and 4pm. 

The professional playwrights were Jo Clifford and May Sumbwanyambe.

Part of TalkFest at the Edinburgh Festival.

Jo Clifford Jo Clifford has written over 70 performed scripts which encompass every dramatic form, and her work has been performed all over the world. Her most recent production, Eve, co-written with Chris Goode and presented by the National Theatre of Scotland is currently touring.
May Sumbwanyambe May Sumbwanyambe was the winner of the BBC PAF's £10k Legacy Award, and in 2013 he was the inaugural Papatango Resident Playwright and winner of the £10k BBC Performing Arts Fellowship. His play After Independence was produced by Papatango Theatre Company at the Arcola Theatre in London in 2016 and published by Bloomsbury.

How do I apply?

Click on the Submit button below to start your application. Submittable will ask you to create an account (or sign in to your existing account). You will need to fill in your name and email address and choose a password.

Once you've created an account, you will then be asked to fill in your contact details, equalities information and upload your extract.

You will need to provide:

  • The title of your play
  • A synopsis of your play
  • The reason that you'd like to be considered for a script surgery (no more than 100 words)
  • The playwright you would like to meet with (if you have a preference)
  • A 30 page extract in either Word or PDF format

Once you have completed all questions, click the final Submit button. You should then receive an email confirming the submission of your application.
