Fuse is a unique Scotland-wide initiative that puts new plays in front of the artistic directors at the country’s top theatre companies.

Why participate in Fuse?

Who are the Fuse Partners?

7:84 Theatre Company, Ankur Productions, Borderline Theatre Company, Byre Theatre, Catherine Wheels, Citizens’ Theatre, Dundee Rep, Grid Iron, Horsecross (Perth Rep), MacRobert, Magnetic North, Mull Theatre, National Theatre of Scotland, A Play, A Pie and A Pint (Oran Mor), Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Stellar Quines, TAG Theatre Company, Tosg, Tron Theatre and Vanishing Point. Over time, this list will continue to be expanded.

What plays are eligible?

We will only consider one play per writer, per year.

Please note that plays written in languages other than English are eligible, but may take longer to process.

How do I include a play?

  1. Print your play one-sided, on white A4 paper;

  2. Please do not bind or staple your script;

  3. Number your pages;

  4. Do not include details that identify you as the writer on any page of the script except the cover sheet;

  5. Include a cover sheet stating your name, title of the play, address, phone number, email address, language in which your play is written, and any special communication needs you may have;

  6. Include an SAE with adequate postage if you would like your play returned (we do not keep unreturned scripts);

  7. Post a copy of your play to Fuse, Playwrights' Studio, Scotland, CCA, 350 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3JD.

What happens next?

  1. You will receive a letter of acknowledgement saying when your play will be presented to Partners;

  2. Your play will be read anonymously by a highly skilled reader who will give feedback in writing;

  3. This feedback will be presented to Partners with your details, at a Partners Meeting;

  4. After this meeting we will send you your written feedback;

  5. Information about your play will then be made available to other producing theatre companies.

If any of the Partners or producing companies have an interest in your writing we will put you in touch with them.

Fuse is managed by Playwrights' Studio, Scotland. Resourced by NTS Workshop.
