MA in Classical and Contemporary Text

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Masters degree in Classical and Contemporary Text is an exciting, intensive full year course for experienced actors and directors looking to take their practical skills to the next level.

Acting and directing students work as an ensemble company, focusing on two strands of theatre: Classical (Shakespeare and Renaissance/Heightened Text) and Contemporary (new writing).

We project manage the new writing aspect of the programme, commissioning up to four writers to work closely with the students throughout the year to develop a new script.

This culminates in 3 - 4 productions at the RCS in Glasgow.

This year, the students are working with Davey Anderson, Keiran Hurley and Lynda Radley.

In 2015/16, the students worked with Douglas Maxwell, Gary McNair and Stef Smith.

We also facilitate a series of talks from playwrights and other theatre professionals, and a programme of performances at the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe.
