
Screen Writing Residencies
Our participants have now spent six months honing their scripts ready to share at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June.The Nine: new features from Scotland Nine new writers. Nine new films. Ninety minutes. Join a stellar ensemble of actors and well loved feature film directors for live scenes, recorded extracts and visual presentations of nine new feature films. Writers Vivien Adam, Raisah Ahmed, Hope Dickson Leach, Mandy Lee, Barry Gornell, Catriona MacInnes, Tara McKevitt, Amy Neill and Martin Smith have worked intensively with international story editors Molly Stensgaard, Olivia Stewart and Marten Rabarts , honing their talents ready to reveal this exclusive first glimpse. Participants AnnouncedPlaywrights' Studio are delighted to announce that the writers selected for the Screenwriting Residency are: Vivien Adam, Raisah Ahmed, Hope Dickson Leach, Barry Gornell, Mandy Lee, Catriona MacInnes, Tara Mckevitt, Amy Neil and Martin Smith. 93 applications were considered with each one read by at least two members of the selection panel. The selection team are confident that they are a strong line up in terms of talent and the level of previous experience and we look forward to working with them to develop their films.
Our inspirational aim – to produce best screenwriters in the world. Applications are now closed for our Screenwriting Residencies. 93 applications were received in total. The first residential weekend will take place from Friday 4 Novemeber to Sunday 6 November 2011, with Olivia Stewart, Molly Stensgaard and Marten Rabarts. The participants will be announced here in late October 2011. Screenwriting Residencies - Applications Closed Our inspirational aim – to produce best screenwriters in the world. The programme consists of a residential training programme in Scotland, which will support you over a five month period to develop a specific feature film script. Participants will work with high level experienced mentors, including mentor tutors from Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. There will be residential meetings with writers expected to work on their film between meetings. Selected participants will also be given the opportunity to present to potential producers at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June 2012. The workshop weekends will take place in November 2011, February 2012 and April 2012. This valuable development opportunity is free of charge to participants. Working with Glasgow Film Festival we will present a public event with a seminal speaker from the film world to inspire writing for screen in Scotland. Participants in the Screen Writing Residency will have the opportunity to take part in master classes with the speaker.
Screen writing Residencies are supported by Creative Scotland’s Creative Futures. Creative Futures’ is an ambitious programme of residencies and related activities designed to promote the professional development, vision, connectivity and ambitions of Scotland’s creative practitioners and organisations. It is the largest co-ordinated residency programme in Europe, and includes residencies that are single discipline, interdisciplinary, cross sectoral and international.
