Script Surgeries - Colour


As part of Different Stages Day Two; Playwrights' Studio, the Scottish Society of Playwrights and the Federation of Scottish Theatre offered a range of surgeries.

They were free, one-to-one, confidential sessions. 

Playwrights' Studio, Scotland Script Surgeries

Professional playwrights Alan McKendrick  and Kathy McKean  gave 50 minute one-to-one sessions advising playwrights on how to take their plays to the next draft.

"Ask a Playwright" 

Throughout the day, members of the SSP Council gave 30 minute, one-to-one surgeries. 

This was an opportunity to access free, open and confidential advice from professional playwrights to ask specific questions or general advice.

Example topics were:

  • The basics of contracts and agreements
  • When to get an agent
  • Deciding to self produce
  • Competitions and awards -  the good, the bad and the ugly

Federation of Scottish Theatre Surgeries
"Ask a Producer" 

Throughout the day experienced producers gave 30 minute, one-to-one surgeries. 

These surgeries were open to any questions on what a producer's role may be in relation to your work and how to build a productive working relationship. Experienced producers on hand to answer specific questions or to offer general advice.

  • Producing your own work
