Script Surgeries

Writing a play and looking for some advice on how to take it to the next draft? Apply for a fifty-minute, one-to-one session, on an extract from your play with professional playwrights Annie George or Meghan Tyler.

Annie _george _Playwright Portrait Annie George  is a writer, director, producer, performer and an occasional filmmaker.

Recent plays include  Home is Not the Place and  The Bridge which became the first production by a South Asian writer to receive funding for a Scottish tour by national arts agency Creative Scotland.
Meghan Profile Pic Meghan Tyler is a writer from Newry, Northern Ireland, and was one of the New Playwrights at the Lyric Theatre in 2018. She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and is currently a New Playwrights Award recipient at Playwrights' Studio.

Her latest play, Crocodile Fever, is premiering at Traverse Festival 2019.

Submissions Process

We use Submittable to help streamline our submissions process. If you are having any problems with the site, please call us on 0141 332 4403 or email and we'll do our best to help you.

How do I apply?

Click on the Submit button below to start your application. Submittable will ask you to create an account (or sign in to your existing account). You will need to fill in your name and email address and choose a password.

Once you've created an account, you will then be asked to fill in your contact details, equalities information and upload your extract.

You will need to provide:

  • The title of your play
  • The reason that you'd like to be considered for a script surgery (no more than 100 words)
  • The playwright you would like to meet with (if you have a preference)
  • A 30-page extract in either Word or PDF format with a brief synopsis at the beginning of your extract and page numbers
  • Confirmation of your availability for a Script Surgery on Saturday 17 August

Once you have completed all questions, click the final Submit button. You should then receive an email confirming the submission of your application.
