Make Space - Artist Opportunity
Deadline: Monday, April 19, 2021
Funding opportunity for two artists/collectives to work towards a piece that they would want to share with young audiences.
We are offering funding for two artists/collectives to work
towards a piece that they would want to share with young audiences.
You will not be expected to end the project with a finished idea,
this is about having time to think about what you want to create,
to spend time on an idea you've had for a while, or a new one, and
to explore ideas for how and where you would want to present the
work to young audiences.
Project outline:
Deadline: 19th April 2021
Artists announced: 11th May 2021
Project runs: May -December 2021
Fee: £5,000 per project
Who we are looking for:
We want artists and individuals from any creative background to
apply. Whether you are a lighting or set designer, a writer,
director, musician, choreographer, technician, theatre maker or
someone who doesn't fit neatly into any description we would love
to hear from you. The one key requirement is that you have an idea
that you want to explore, which you would want to share with young
audiences
We want our children to hear different stories and ideas, from a
variety of voices and perspectives, that reflect all of Scotland.
With this at the forefront of Make Space 2021, we are keen to hear
from artists whose voices are under-represented in our sector. This
could include, but is not exclusive to, artists who identify as
Black, Asian, Latinx, minority ethnic, D/deaf, disabled, LGBTQ+. At
least one of the artists supported will come from an
under-represented group.
We want to work with artists who have a desire to focus on the
environment and sustainability.
We are keen to broaden our ideas and thinking, and invite projects
which might challenge our assumptions.
You need to be based in Scotland, and we encourage artists from
East Lothian, our local community, to apply.
