Dramatists Guild Institute Presents: Artist as CEO

The Dramatists Guild Institute (DGI) is one of the most innovative and progressive curriculums in the America, with online and in-person classes each semester that offer everything from foundation classes in dramatic structure to master classes in writing comedy. At the DGI you'll learn to develop craft via writing workshops/masterclasses and structural fundamental courses;  to understand the business of writing for the stage; and to be able to position yourself as a writer in the field by developing an individualized career path.

Join them in Edinburgh for a taste of what the DGI has to offer. Tari Stratton, the DGI's Associate Director, and Amy VonMacek, the Dramatists Guild's Manager of Business Affairs, will present an abbreviated version of the popular Artist as CEO course, where students learn about the tools they need to take control of their career.  In this two-hour session, participants will work on how to write a better synopsis, how to submit their work with more purpose, and how to use the DG's Dramatists Bill of Rights to their advantage.

Dramatists Guild of America Presents: Devised Theatre Contracts

Theatre has always been a collaborative process. But what happens when the collaboration expands past our traditional definitions? What happens when there are not one or two authors, but five or ten? How can be best honor contributions of non-authorial contributors within a devised process? Who is in control? What is there to be in control of? How can we assure proper compensation and credit to all? These questions have been at the center of the conversation for over two years via the DG's Devised Theatre Committee let by Tectonic Theater's Moises Kaufman and Guild President, Doug Wright.

In our session Director of Business Affairs, Deborah Murad will take participants through the Devised Resource Guide and offer insights into the four devised contracts she created with the help of the Dramatists Guild's Devised Committee.
