Jenny is an award winning playwright from Glasgow. She holds an MSc with Distinction in Playwriting from the University of Edinburgh and is currently completing a Practice as Research PhD in Playwriting at the University of Glasgow, funded by AHRC. She was awarded the inaugural David MacLennan Award in 2013, resulting in the production of her play Home at A Play, a Pie and a Pint which subsequently won a New Pie on the Block Award in 2015. Her play The Goofos Present was developed through a Playwrights' Studio, Scotland's New Playwrights Award in 2014 and then was shortlisted for the Courtyard Theatre Kings Cross Award in 2015. Theatre credits include: Home (A Play, a Pie and a Pint), Bulldog - Rehearsed reading (Traverse/Edinburgh University), The Divot, the Flag and the Black Black Donald (Scottish Storytelling Centre), Whose Right is it Anyway? (Etch/Squint/Pleasance) After the Tone (TYCI/Declaration) Travel Choice Pro (1989 Productions/Hackney Showroom) After words (Turnt/Edinburgh Science Festival).
Opera credits include: Toi Toi Toi (Opera Breve) and One Day This Will Be Long Ago (Opera Breve/Arches). Her work has also been performed at various new writing events and festivals including Newsboy (Tron Theatre), Etch (Peckham Pelican), Tête à Tête, Declaration, and as part of the Women at RADA initiative.
She is currently under commission to the Tron theatre, LAMDA and NOISE.
