Lewis is an award winning playwright and performance maker. His work is published by Oberon and has been performed extensively in the UK as well as internationally, including performances in America, Australia, Canada, China, Dubai, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. He has won two Fringe First Awards, The Arches Brick Award, and an Adelaide Fringe Award.
He is currently the Traverse/IASH Creative Fellow at Edinburgh University, an Associate Playwright for Playwrights' Studio Scotland and Artist in Residence at Bike for Good in Glasgow. He is on the board of Creative Carbon Scotland.
Upcoming projects include QWERK, a series of readings of plays by Queer identifying writers from across the world, and The Coming Back Out Ball (National Theatre of Scotland), a project celebrating and amplifying the voices of the older LGBTI+ community culminating in a spectacular performance event in 2020.
Other credits include Rocket Post! (National Theatre of Scotland), How To Fix a Broken Wing (Catherine Wheels), two collaborations with Ailie Cohen Puppet Maker; The Secret Life of Suitcases (Unicorn) and Cloud Man, Friends Electric (Visible Fictions), Leaving Planet Earth (Grid Iron/EIF). As an associate of Analogue he wrote Mile End, Beachy Head, 2401 Objects (with Oldenburg Staatstheater) and Stowaway.
Lewis' work has been presented throughout the Scotland and the rest of the world including performances in Australia, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Germany, USA and Japan.
