Lorna is an award-winning TV scriptwriter. She co-created 6-part comedy drama Women on the Verge with Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan for UKTV and RTE. Lorna won an RTS Scotland Award in 2018 for writing the series, which was also nominated for a Broadcasting Press Guild award for best comedy series. The series was based on Lorna's critically acclaimed comic memoir, Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
Lorna is also an award-winning journalist. She was Scotland Editor of The Observer, and also worked for The Herald and Oban Times. She travelled throughout Eastern Europe, parts of Africa, North America, and Australia to report on various stories. She won several awards, including an Amnesty International media award for human rights journalism. She has also worked as a secondary school teacher.
She has written two plays -Party Politics, a dark comedy about motherhood, which was performed as part of A Play, A Pie, and A Pint, in 2018, and a one-woman show about the Scottish footballer, Rose Reilly.
She is currently developing several projects for stage, TV and film.
