Lorna Martin

Lorna is a new playwright based in Edinburgh. She is an award-winning journalist, formerly Scotland Editor of The Observer, via The Herald --  where she won an Amnesty International Award for Human Rights Journalism -- the Oban Times, and several other careers, including secondary school teaching.

In 2008, she wrote a critically acclaimed comic memoir Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, which has been translated into 13 languages, and was optioned by Working Title. With the writer and actress Sharon Horgan, Lorna wrote a TV pilot adapted from her book.

In the past few years, as well as looking after two young children, Lorna has been working on several TV projects. She has a comedy in development with BBC Scotland and was recently selected for a John Brabourne Award 2016-17, which provides support to emerging talent in the TV and film industry.
