Mike Cullen is one of Scotland's leading writers for both stage and television. His breakthrough play The Cut toured Scotland and transferred to a sell out run at The Bush theatre, London, and his 1997 play Anna Weiss saw him win a fringe first and Scotland on Sunday Playwright's award and also saw him shortlisted for the Lloyd's UK playwright of the year. His plays have been performed all over the world.
Anna Weiss has been translated into many languages, and performed in over 20 countries. For 20 years he has written for television, ranging from crime and suspense thrillers such as McCallum, Taggart, The Vice, Afterlife and Touching Evil to adventure dramas such as Hornblower and Primeval. He devised and executive produced the hit series Donovan, which was nominated for a Bafta, and Hornblower won him an Emmy for best miniseries in the USA.
His latest television drama, Inspector George Gently, "Gently Going Under", was aired on BBC earlier this year. He is currently working on many new projects, including co-devising an original television drama with Frank Spotnitz, and two new stage plays which will be completed next year.
