MJ Brocklebank has written for River City, EastEnders and Doctors, as well as writing the screenplay for the independent feature film, Anna Unbound.
They have had three short plays produced and in 2016 progressed to the final stage of the Tron Theatre's Progressive Playwright Award.
In 2018 MJ was awarded funds from Creative Scotland to write a first draft of the play, Becoming Doctor Barry, as well as being mentored by playwright Jo Clifford and having an extract of the play included in 404 Ink's anthology, We Were Always Here.
July-August 2018: awarded funds from Creative Scotland to allow them to write the full-length version of their short play, Becoming Doctor Barry.
March 2018: short play, Becoming Doctor Barry, produced by Short Attention Span Theatre in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Selected to develop the play with mentor and acclaimed playwright Jo Clifford as part of Queer Words Scotland Project 2018.

September 2015: Love and Other Emotions, was voted through to final of the Tron Theatre's Progressive Playwright Award, held in January 2016.

November 2013: commissioned to write an episode of DOCTORS, (BBC One, HITTING HOME) transmitted on Wednesday 7 May 2014.
October 2011: co-wrote and co-produced the short comedy, Is It Me You're Looking For? for the first Glasgow 48 Hour Film Project.
June 2011: wrote, produced and directed the short film Hard is the Fortune for the National Theatre of Scotland's Five Minute Theatre project. Broadcast globally online on the evening of 21 June 2011.
November 2009: EASTENDERS commission, BBC One. Episode transmitted April 2010.
May 2008: short play, The Black Water, staged as part of Fiendish Plot's lunchtime theatre season at the CCA, Glasgow.
June 2005: commissioned by The Glasgow Film Office and Fiveaside Films to write a first draft of an original feature film script, My Brother Mary.
May 2002 - Nov 2011: Writer, RIVER CITY, BBC One Scotland. 57 commissioned episodes, including the 500th episode and a special fifth birthday episode.
November 2001: commissioned by Ideal World to write Loveless, a thirty-minute original drama for Channel 4's new writing strand, 'Coming Up'. Transmitted October 2003.
Aug 2001: MA in Creative Writing, Lancaster University. Short story 'Hurdles to Gaining Employment' published in 'How I got my Postgraduate Degree Part Time', Lancaster IS/Guardian Publishing.
November 2000: commissioned to write two episodes of DOCTORS for BBC One. Educating Teacher was transmitted in March 2001; All For One was transmitted in September 2001.
Summer 2000: short story 'This Guy' published by The Moebius magazine. Short story 'His Daughter' published in the Edinburgh Review issue 107.
December 1999: shortlisted for Red Productions/Channel 4's Northern Soul TV script competition.
April 1999: short play, Those Below, produced by Paines Plough in Newcastle, Bolton, Leeds and Bristol.
