Rehanna trained as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was also sort of forced into writing as part of an assessment. It turned out to be really fun and they funded her short play to go to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She then went on to write another short piece which she performed herself at The Other Room theatre in Cardiff.
Since graduating in 2014, she has performed with companies including the National Theatre of Scotland, Traverse theatre, Royal Lyceum theatre in Edinburgh, Stellar Quines and Tamasha Theatre Company.
She is very excited to develop her playwriting skills and hopes to write her first full length play with the support of Playwrights' Studio Scotland's mentoring scheme 2018.
Mentoring Programme 2019
Rehanna was part of our Mentoring Programme for 2019. She devleoped a new play as part of the programme:
Rona isn't Scottish
Like the island
It's Friday night and she's in her room
Smell the salt and vinegar from her pizza crunch?
See her posters of the PKK?
She wants to do something other than the others today.
This play will be about being young, being other, being a rebel, being a hero, being a woman, being sexual, being violent, being lonely, and being convicted.
Rehanna was mentored by Lewis Hetherington.
