Rehanna trained as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was also sort of forced into writing as part of an assessment. It turned out to be really fun and they funded her short play to go to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She then went on to write another short piece which she performed herself at The Other Room theatre in Cardiff.
Since graduating in 2014, she has performed with companies including the National Theatre, the National theatre of Scotland, Traverse theatre, Royal Lyceum theatre in Edinburgh, Stellar Quines and Tamasha Theatre Company.
Rehanna is very excited to have written her first full-length play through Playwrights Studio Scotlands mentoring programme.
Mentoring Programme 2019
Rehanna was part of our Mentoring Programme for 2019. She devleoped Hudhud as part of the programme:
Alia is a self professed "mud-blood" and a selective mute. Kamran is her Scottish-Pakistani RE teacher. They are almost pulled together by the Glasweigan gale to make peace with their grief. Hudhud is the story of one of those unlikely friendships that makes life a little easier.
Rehanna was mentored by Lewis Hetherington.
