Suzanne Lofthus

Suzanne is Artistic Director for Cutting Edge Theatre in Edinburgh. The company works mainly with disadvantaged people, enabling and encouraging potential through theatre and specialises in Community Theatre. Suzanne has also written a number of plays and the books for musicals Blude Red and 11 both professionally produced. More recent plays written include a play about disability and relationships - Downs with Love and a play about Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I, Mary, the Last Farewell which have both been professionally produced.

She is currently working on the following writing projects:

- the screenplay version of Downs with Love

- working with someone who has cerebral palsy to create a stage version of her story.

- writing the book for a new musical, working with Ian Hammond Brown (composer of Whisky Galore - a musical!)

- devising a production called Perchance to Dream about disability

As a writer she also works with groups and helps devise scripted plays and mentors groups in a variety of theatre skills. She has worked in prisons and mentored prisoners to write new scripted plays from devised work.

She has also adapted a number of books including Les Miserables, Peter Pan and A Christmas Carol for community productions and youth theatres.

Suzanne has an interest in Scottish history as well as issue based work. She has also as a Director/Producer commissioned a number of scripts including two by Rob Drummond.
