Tom Murray is a Scottish playwright, poet and fiction writer living in the Scottish Borders.
His recent plays include: Death of a Factory by Short Attention Theatre Company 2018, What Lies Beneath by Firebrand Theatre Company as part of Playwrights' Studio, Scotland's Talkfest in the Scottish Borders 2018, Woodstock 2018, And it is Becoming Night 2017, and You're Supposed to be a Doctor by Short Play Theatre 2015.
His play Sins of the Father wasa winner of the Rowan Tree Playwriting Competition and toured by the Rowan Tree Theatre Company. Can You Hear Me? was one of the I Confess monologues performed at The Arches directed by Andy Arnold. In 2014, he wrote By Its Nature Uncertain as part of the National Theatre of Scotland's 5 Minute Theatre 'Yes, No, Don't Know' event. Also the script Shush. He was held a number of residencies including Scottish Book Trust Reader in Residence to Scottish Borders Libraries; Creative Writing Fellow to Tyne & Esk Writers based across Midlothian and East Lothian; Writer in Residence in Clackmannanshire. He was also editor of the literary magazine The Eildon Tree for nearly twelve years.
He is currently working on two plays scheduled for early 2019.
